Woman put dog faeces in man’s curry

A WOMAN has avoided a prison sentence after she admitted putting dog excrement in her husband’s curry.

Jill Martin, 47, took drastic action after her marriage broke down and laughed when her husband Donald started eating the dish at their home in Newton Mearns, Glasgow, Paisley Sheriff Court in Scotland heard.

She admitted culpable and reckless conduct in May following the incident in March.

But sheriff Susan Sinclair said she would not send Martin to jail because her circumstances are “quite different” than at the time of the attack. She was discharged without punishment.

Charlie McCusker, defending, said Martin had taken action to deal with an alcohol problem and “over a period of years felt undermined by her partner and had very low self-esteem”.

After 21 years of marriage, the couple have begun divorce proceedings.

Ms Sinclair said she accepted there had been a background that had led her to act in the manner described.
