THE schoolteacher arrested on suspicion of sexually abusing boys in rural Thailand was previously employed by the Canadian military to counsel teenagers on moral issues, officials said.

Christopher Paul Neil, aged 32, was arrested after an international manhunt that relied on digitally unscrambled photos and tips from the public.

Police traced a phone call of Neil’s acquaintance, a Thai transvestite, who led them to the house the pair rented together, officials said at a news conference in Bangkok.
