Cameron urges Tories to focus on return to power

BRITISH opposition leader David Cameron yesterday encouraged his Conservative Party to embrace a new style to return to power in elections that could be held as early as November 1.

Britain has been abuzz with talk that Prime Minister Gordon Brown might call an early election and Mr Cameron aimed to rally his party behind his modernising agenda.

Mr Cameron made it clear he rejected calls from within his party to abandon his centrist policies, such as environmental and social justice concerns, and shift back to its traditional political territory on the right.
