AN Indian doctor who was jailed in Australia for more than three weeks over failed car bombings in Britain before being released said he was traumatised by his detention, but still wanted to work in the country.

Mohamed Haneef was arrested on July 2 as he attempted to leave Brisbane for India to visit his newborn daughter.

“It is a tremendous amount of trauma that I have gone through, that I have never imagined in my life,” he told Australia’s 60 Minutes programme yesterday. “People need to be detained, but not with such a long period.”
