Tiger putts baby in public eye
Tiger’s wife Elin gave birth to their first child on June 18 in Florida, less than 24 hours after he finished second at the US Open on Father’s Day.
“Both Elin and Sam are doing well and resting peacefully,” Woods wrote soon after the birth.
“This is truly a special time in our lives and we look forward to introducing Sam to our family and friends over the next few weeks. We thank everyone for their well wishes and continued respect of our privacy.”
Woods, second in the US Open, is scheduled to host a tournament in Washington from July 5-8. The British Open starts on July 19, and the PGA Championship begins on August 9 at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa.
The past two years have been life-changing for Woods, who has won 12 majors. He turned 30 in December 2005, and the following May his father, Earl, died aged 74 after a long bout with cancer.
A month later, Woods missed the cut at the US Open but came back to win the British Open last July and broke down in tears on the 18th at Royal Liverpool, sobbing on the shoulder of his caddie.
