Police found the bodies while investigating a report of shots fired Saturday night in the small southern Wisconsin town of Delavan, Chief Tim O’Neill said. Authorities interviewed friends and relatives of the victims yesterday, but released no details on whether they had identified a suspect.

The wounded child, a 2-year-old girl, was taken to a hospital in Rockford, Illinois, where she was reported in critical condition late Saturday. She was flown to the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, and Chief O’Neill said her condition was upgraded to serious yesterday. He withheld the victims’ names and declined to take questions at a news conference.
