NINTENDO has secured more than a Wii share in the computer games market — its state-of-the-art console is outselling its main competitor by up to five to one.

Wii — pronounced “wee” — has taken the world by storm with its signature wand-like remote controllers that allow users to mimic the motions of a tennis racket, golf club or sword, depending on the game.

However, its success has come at a price, mainly to any man, woman, child or piece of furniture that has got in the way of flailing arms wielding the remote controls.
