A PAEDOPHILE told a young girl she had to pass “sex tests” before he could set up a meeting with Take That star Mark Owen, a court heard yesterday.

Paedophile tricked Take That fan, 12, to perform sex tests

Michael Meads, aged 52, tricked the 12-year-old, who was a virgin, into performing sex acts claiming he was working at a hotel where the group was staying and could arrange a meeting.

Prosecutor Mark Whitehall told Truro Crown Court the young fan had been “groomed intensively into regular and repeated sexual activity”.

He said Meads also at times pretended to be in a trance and acting on the orders of someone he referred to as ‘The Master’, who said the girl had to undergo the sexual tasks to ensure a meeting with Owen.

Mr Whitehall said: “It is the Crown’s case that she engaged in sexual intercourse because she had been deceived into believing he was in a trance, and that she had to perform certain tasks to meet with Take That and Mark Owen in particular.

“She says she had full sex three or four times a week over a period of a year.”

Meads, formerly of Bude, Cornwall, and with an address in Borrowash, Derby, pleaded guilty to five charges of indecent assault, one of taking an indecent photograph of a child and one of procurement involving the girl when she was aged between 12 and 15 years old. He also pleaded guilty to a further two charges of indecency with another girl under 16.

Mr Justice Royce adjourned sentence until next month pending the preparation of a pre-sentence report.

After police arrested Meads, diaries revealed he had begun a sexual relationship with another girl before her 16th birthday.
