Ugly Betty star has her smile insured for $10 million
The policy was taken out by Aquafresh White Trays, a teeth-whitening product manufacturer which is working with the actress for a US charity that campaigns for free dental care for jobless women.
Ferrera, 23, plays Betty Suarez, an ugly duckling with train-track braces on her teeth and an idiosyncratic dress sense, who works at a snobby New York fashion magazine.
Lloyds has a record of providing unusual cover for celebrities. In the past, it has insured Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards’ fingers and screen siren Marlene Dietrich’s legs.
Ferrara said: “It’s very flattering to have my smile insured for $10m, it’s not something that I ever imagined happening.”
Ferrara won Best TV Comedy Actress and Best Comedy Show awards at the 2007 Golden Globes.
