Teen kills himself after gun threat

AMERICA faced a new teenage gun rampage when a pupil killed himself after pointing a weapon at two other youngsters at their school car park.

Schools in Huntersville, North Carolina, were locked down yesterday after the 16-year-old, whose name was not released, made threatening gestures at North Mecklenburg High School, police said.

The pupil shot himself in the head with the handgun when police confronted him at a petrol station, said Michael Kee of the Huntersville Police Department. He later died from his injuries.
