Teen kills himself after gun threat
Schools in Huntersville, North Carolina, were locked down yesterday after the 16-year-old, whose name was not released, made threatening gestures at North Mecklenburg High School, police said.
The pupil shot himself in the head with the handgun when police confronted him at a petrol station, said Michael Kee of the Huntersville Police Department. He later died from his injuries.
Police alerted four schools after the student left the campus. “We put every school in the area on immediate lockdown in light of everything that’s gone on in the world lately,” Kee said, referring to Monday’s shooting of 32 people at Virginia Tech.
