Teen mother told she had lost baby discovers a twin
Lisa Evans, aged 15 from Aberdeen, was devastated when doctors told her she had miscarried.
But the teenager’s despair turned to delight after discovering she was still pregnant.
Tests revealed Lisa had been expecting twins but the second baby had not been detected.
Now Lisa is the mother of five-week old Amy.
Speaking at her grandmother’s home, the schoolgirl said: “When I found out I had lost the baby it was a really sad time.
“Then when I was told I was pregnant, I was in real shock — I thought ‘how can I be’?
“It was then I was told I had been expecting twins and was still pregnant. I couldn’t believe it.”
Lisa was admitted to the city’s maternity hospital when she was six weeks pregnant suffering from stomach cramps.
The next day doctors told her she had lost her baby.
A week later at a local health clinic a midwife carried out a pregnancy test and it came up positive.
Doctors told the family Lisa had experienced an ectopic pregnancy and one embryo may have been behind the other.
