Murder accused ‘bearing up well’

THE solicitor representing Steven Wright said yesterday his client was “bearing up well.”

Murder accused ‘bearing up well’

Speaking after the court hearing, Paul Osler, founder of Oslers Solicitors in Newmarket, said: “Anybody accused of these offences is likely to be distressed by the mere fact of the accusations. Given these circumstances, he’s bearing up well.”

Mr Osler said Wright had been treated well during the time he was held in police custody. “They treated him in a very civilised fashion,” he said. He was given proper clothing and washing facilities and provided with cigarettes. He has no complaints about the way he was treated.”

Mr Osler said Wright was formally charged with the murders at around 10pm on Thursday.

He said he was not in a position to indicate whether Wright is likely to enter a plea at the next hearing.

“I am not able to indicate at this stage and you should read nothing into that,” he said.
