DAVID GEST sailed through his Bushtucker Trial yesterday, prompting viewers to ask: are the jungle critters more scared of him than he is of them?

Unfazed Gest sails through Bushtucker trial

The ex-husband of Liza Minnelli was totally unfazed as a shower of water spiders, crayfish and alligators poured on to his head.

Back at camp, Gest is fast winning over his fellow I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! jungle dwellers – even his former enemy Lauren Booth.

Showbiz impresario Gest was chosen in the first viewer vote to undergo the Flash Flood trial.

He insisted: “I’m not nervous at all. I’m not up for the challenge, but I’ll give it my best. Whatever happens, happens.”

Presenters Ant and Dec told Gest he would be locked inside a tank where he had to unscrew pipes, releasing a torrent of water containing assorted creatures. As an added twist, the tank would also fill with water.

Gest admitted he was “not happy at all”.

But the 53-year-old ended up collecting an impressive six stars before the water rose above his face.

As he clambered out of the tank, Ant told him: “You’ve got a spider on your head.”

“So? Big deal,” Gest shrugged, plucking it from his scalp and throwing it to the floor.
