Disgraced cloning scientist hits back with lawsuit

A FORMER South Korean university professor who was fired for allegedly falsifying stem cell research data filed a lawsuit yesterday seeking reinstatement, a court official and his lawyer said.

Hwang Woo-suk, who once claimed to have produced the first cloned human embryos, said in the suit that Seoul National University fired him based on “distorted and exaggerated” evidence after an in-house investigation, an official at the Seoul Administration Court said.

Hwang’s lawyer, Lee Geon-haeng, confirmed the lawsuit.
