In the day’s deadliest Israeli attacks, six Lebanese military were killed in two air strikes.

Missiles also flattened a house in the village of Ansar, near the southern market town of Nabatiyeh, killing a man and four of his relatives.

Hezbollah guerrillas unleashed their deadliest barrage of rockets yet into northern Israel with several striking the city of Haifa.

An emergency services spokesman said three people had been killed.

Haifa fire department said one crowded residential district suffered hits and there were many casualties.

Earlier Hezbollah fired 80 rockets at several Israeli towns, killing 12 people.

Political leaders warned that a draft UN ceasefire resolution was unlikely to bring an immediate halt to fighting in the Middle East.

Israel said it would not halt its offensive until Hezbollah rockets are silenced.

Lebanon’s parliament speaker, who represents Hezbollah, said the plan was unacceptable since it would leave Israeli troops in Lebanon and does not deal with a release of prisoners held by Israel.
