Apple workers get 13% pay rise

SIPTU workers at the Apple plant in Cork have managed to break the computer manufacturer's global pay freeze by winning a 13% pay rise.

However, SIPTU workers will not receive any back pay following the successful completion of wage negotiations, which will see workers paid the second phase of the PPF of 5.5%, due last October, the 4% third phase, the 1% PPF revised payment and the 3% first phase of Sustaining Progress.

The payments are to be applied on a cumulative basis, which will result in a total hike of 13.01% in salary, effective from July 15 next.
