Fire fatalities in Paris

FLAMES ripped through a dilapidated apartment building in the heart of historic Paris, killing seven African immigrants.

Four children were among the dead, including a six-year-old thrown by his desperate mother from a fourth-floor window.

It was the second deadly fire in a week at buildings housing immigrants in France's capital, and the third since April - bringing the death toll to 48 and prompting criticism of the conditions in which immigrants are housed.
