Seafood sector set to benefit from Polish EU entry
Polish membership from May 1 will result in changed trading conditions for Irish herring and mackerel exporters. Traditionally, Poland has been a significant market for herring and mackerel, with exports of €6.8 million in 2002.
This trade developed despite tariffs of 15% and 20% imposed by Poland on imports of frozen herringand mackerel, respectively.
