OTHER documents released yesterday tell of what happened in the immediate aftermath of the massacre.

One woman had been dropping off two children at the nursery school and had a mobile phone which she lent to a policeman at the scene.

But when the officer used it, he inadvertently hit a key which meant the phone dialled the woman's home answering machine. And this recorded the next few minutes' conversation between officers at the scene. Part of the conversation went:
