Tornado kills 20 in American mid-west

A TORNADO ripped across south-western Indiana and northern Kentucky early yesterday, killing at least 20 people, wrecking homes and knocking out power to thousands, state and county authorities said.

The death toll is expected to grow. About 200 people had been injured.

The tornado touched down near Henderson, Kentucky, and jumped the Ohio River into Indiana at around 2am.
