McCreevy urged to go over cuts 'deception'
Amid growing concerns about the state of the public finances, opposition parties challenged the Government to recall the Dáil for an emergency debate on the economy.
The confidential memo on the Government's economic and budgetary strategy for 2003 to 2005 was distributed to ministers in June. It reveals an increase of 27% in government spending in the year preceding the election and says the special savings scheme will cost 1.25 billion more than expected.
