THE Small Firms Association (SFA) says demand for new employees will decline by 34% this year.

SFA chairman Kieran Crowley says tough economic times require a pay “pause”, or freeze, necessary to help the Irish economy recover competitiveness lost in recent years.

He said the Irish economy and its workforce must come to terms with the harsh reality that a pay pause is necessary.
