Pet dog saves baby’s life

A 13-YEAR-OLD pet Alsatian has been hailed a hero after saving the life of a baby girl who stopped breathing.

The faithful family dog, Max, started whining and jumping about in the car when his owner’s 18-month-old daughter Shona began convulsing.

Shona’s parents, Marion Derrane, 39, and Mick McDonald, 44, turned round to see their daughter struggling for breath.

They stopped the car and in another amazing moment of luck, managed to flag down a passing ambulance Today Marion, a housewife, said: “There is no doubt Max has saved our little girl’s life. It is totally out of character for him to jump about like that. He knew something was wrong. He’s a hero.”

The drama unfolded as the family, from Bristol Gardens in Kemp Town, Brighton, were driving along the coast road in nearby Peacehaven. “Then an ambulance stopped and a paramedic appeared. She was like an apparition, an angel who had come to save Shona.”
