Rising recalled in Czech Republic

CZECHS took to the streets yesterday for concerts and speeches to mark the 15th anniversary of the Velvet Revolution that ended communism.

Former President Vaclav Havel, the playwright who led mass rallies that began on November 17, 1989, laid a wreath symbolising the uprising that toppled the Marxist regime in the former Czechoslovakia.
