Pregnant woman on murder charge

A PREGNANT woman has been charged with killing her boyfriend’s toddler daughter by scalding her in what prosecutors say was 64° Celsius water, then ignoring her suffering for several hours.

Letitia Ann Johnson, 27, of Orion Township, Michigan, was charged with second-degree murder in the death of 22-month-old Jasmine Phillips. She was ordered held without bond.

Johnson gave the girl a bath in scalding water, then put her to bed, according to her statements to police. Prosecutors say she knew Jasmine was in pain.
