Bush invites leaders to US as peace deal looms

US PRESIDENT George W Bush has invited Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon to meet him in Washington as peace moves between the two accelerate.

The Israeli and Palestinian leaders are set to declare a formal end to more than four years of fighting at today’s Red Sea summit, both sides said.

Israeli and Palestinian negotiators finalised the agreement during last-minute preparations yesterday.
