Bin Laden likely inspiration for tourist site attack

TERRORISTS linked to Osama bin Laden were probably responsible for Saturday’s bomb blasts, experts said yesterday.

The resort of Kuta is a well-known destination for western tourists and this, combined with poor security in parts of Indonesia, would make Bali an obvious and easy target for bin Laden's al-Qaida network.

Authors and academics specialising in terrorism and international security agreed the outrage was likely to be an al-Qaida-linked attack, warning the network was regaining strength after the US-led war in Afghanistan.
