Irish milliner scores hat-trick designing Camilla’s hat
However, Philip Treacy, who has created hats for Madonna and Marilyn Manson in the past, is keeping the design under wraps until the royal wedding in Windsor’s Guildhall today.
“She will look fabulous. I think people will be surprised,” he said. Even Prince Charles is being kept in the dark about what his future wife will wear for the royal wedding.
Mr Treacy, 37, has designed hats for the Queen, Zara Phillips and Princess Michael of Kent, as well as Ms Parker Bowles.
Born in the small village of Ahascragh, Co Galway, Mr Treacy lived across the
road from the local church.
He has described the sight of couples and guests arriving for weddings as his first encounters with fashion shows.
“It seemed so glamorous to see these creatures appear in these extraordinary clothes, as we didn’t have much glamour where I come from.”
He studied fashion at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin before moving to London to complete an MA at the Royal College of Art.
Madonna, Renee Zellweger, Boy George and Grace Jones have bought his hats.
