Woman ‘used Merc as murder weapon’ on cheating husband

A TEXAN woman who ran down her cheating husband with a Mercedes turned her $73,000 vehicle into “a 4,000lb murder weapon”, prosecutors said.

Clara Harris, a 44-year-old Houston dentist, is accused of killing her husband in a hotel car park after confronting him and another woman in the lobby.

Prosecutor Mia Magness told jurors Harris had given her husband David an ultimatum: choose between her or his mistress, Gail Bridges.

When he chose Bridges, Magness said, Harris got into her car and purposely ran him down. “The evidence will show you she intentionally and knowingly hit him and didn’t stop. She did it again and again and again,” Magness said.

Harris’s 17-year-old stepdaughter Lindsey was sitting in the car at the time and watched as her father was killed.

George Parnham, defending, said his client only wanted to keep her family together, but “lost it” after finding her husband with a mistress at the hotel where they were married 10 years earlier. Harris has said her husband’s death was an accident.
