Jordan airs suicide attack plot ‘confessions’

JORDAN yesterday found itself among the top targets of the al-Qaida terror network after foiling a plot to hit the capital with chemical explosives that Amman said could have killed tens of thousands.

But a day after the announcement in an unprecedented programme by state television on Monday that aired the testimonies of alleged members of a dismantled group several questions remain unanswered.

Jordanian officials said the plot involved a planned suicide attack on the intelligence department, using trucks loaded with 20 tonnes of chemicals.
