INFERTILITY experts have said it is “madness” for a 66-year-old woman to be allowed to give birth and that nobody over the age of 45 would be allowed receive egg donations in this country.

Romanian woman Adriana Iliescu gave birth to a 3lb baby girl at the weekend and is thought to be the world’s oldest new mother.

The girl, Eliza Maria, was born prematurely by Caesarean section after her twin sister died in the womb, the Giulesti Maternity Hospital in Bucharest said.
