Irish jobs under threat as WorldCom announces staff cuts
A spokeswoman for the Irish office of the company, which is under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the US, said she did not yet know if the 2,000 job cuts ordered by the parent company would hit the 160 people employed in Ireland but it is understood some employees will be let go.
Staff at WorldCom’s major British base faced the prospect of “significant redundancies” after the group announced it will cut a quarter of its staff from a key operating region.
