No let-up as more cuts and hidden taxes on way

THE Government is to announce a further series of funding cuts and stealth increases in charges not contained in the Budget.

Yesterday, the first of the stealth taxes was confirmed, when motor tax rose by 12% - around 30 for the average family car.

Local authority charges and third-level registration fees are the next in line. Grants for groups working with the unemployed, aged and disabled are also due to be cut.
