Teen expecting quads in fluke pregnancy

AN 18-year-old barmaid is reportedly expecting quadruplets, in a “one in a million” pregnancy without fertility treatment.

Stacey Theobald from Kent is 10 weeks into her pregnancy, according to The Sun newspaper.

Ms Theobald went to the Medway Maritime Hospital for a scan after fearing complications with her pregnancy.

She told the newspaper: “It’s incredible. I went in thinking I was losing a baby and came out with four.

“Mind you, I’m terrified now. How many nappies will I have to change?”!

The paper’s doctor, Carol Cooper, said the pregnancy was “almost a million to one chance”.

The hospital has warned Ms Theobald about the risks and asked her to consider reducing the number of foetuses, the paper says.

But she refused, saying “How could I choose?”

Medics have also told her to give up work and get plenty of rest.

Her builder boyfriend, Mike Spendiff, 23, who is supporting her, was said to be stunned by the news.

Ms Theobald is due to give birth on 15 November. She said her mother was “hysterical” when told.

The hospital refused to comment or confirm the story.
