Lights out as Tesco recalls faulty decorations

HUNDREDS OF householders will have to start stripping their Christmas trees early after Tesco announced it was recalling sets of seasonal lights for safety reasons.

Describing the move as a “precautionary measure”, an advertisement placed in today’s newspapers by the supermarket giant described how the Irish operation of the British chain store had decided to recall three different sets of lights, each of which is sold under the Tesco own-brand name, for safety reasons.

The advertisement states that a manufacturing fault may cause the Christmas tree lights to overheat.
