CRUCIAL talks will be held between Bank of Ireland and the Irish Bank Officials Association on Thursday over the controversial transfer of 320 Information Technology workers to Hewlett Packard.

IBOA has served a 24-hour stoppage by its computer staff that could cause havoc for customers as branches and ATMs face disruption on the day.

It is due to take place on 23 July and unless something dramatic happens on Thursday the belief is that the strike looks inevitable.
