The former All Saint had to push a jungle-style shopping trolley along a cable which was suspended 200 feet above the ground.

The public voted for the 31-year-old to undergo the challenge despite the fact she was a complete wreck on her first day in the jungle.

The sobbing singer admitted she already wanted to quit, saying she was finding it so stressful she could not sleep. Yesterday, the singer whimpered: “Mummy, I can’t do this ... I’m not happy. Help me! Help me!” before she was harnessed to the bamboo cart.

“Do you realise this is really serious for me? I’m doing this for my kids.”

But Appleton grabbed seven out of 10 stars, winning the camp seven meals.

She cried out to her daughter back home, “There you go Rachel, I did it!” but felt so faint that camp medic had to administer oxygen.

She told Ant and Dec: “The days are fine. It’s just when it gets dark it’s kinda scary. I feel very on my own. When they are sleeping I feel like ‘Don’t leave me on my own’.”

Janet Street-Porter got even more ratty with her fellow contestants.

Her complaints started when the camp received their own pets, a pair of four-week-old emus.

“For God’s sake! What on earth do we need pets for? I hate pets,” she moaned.
