Majority of Irish want our troops sent to Iraq
Over 63% say Ireland should send troops to maintain peace in Iraq, compared with an EU average of 44%. This is even higher than in Britain, the main allies of the US in the war in Iraq.
The figures come from the first results of a survey on Iraq and peace in the world carried out in the 15 EU member states earlier this month. The survey, carried out between October 8 and 16, interviewed 7,515 people by telephone across the Community.
