A PLANE heading to Turkey with more than 150 people aboard, mostly German tourists, made an emergency landing in the western Romanian city of Timisoara after a smoke alarm went off, authorities said yesterday.

The plane, which belonged to Turkey’s MNG Airlines, was flying from Hamburg, Germany, to Anatalya in south-eastern Turkey when the alarm went off over Hungary. No one was injured, but several people were treated for panic attacks.

Authorities checked the plane but nothing was amiss.
