Bin-raiders target homes in credit card fraud bid

HOMEOWNERS are being warned not to dispose of material containing personal information in bins after a surge in bin-raiding in Britain.

Police in the West Midlands said fraudsters are searching through bins looking for paperwork bearing personal or financial details.

In so-called bin-raiding, which originated in the United States, criminals use data from discarded correspondence to create a parallel identity to fraudulently obtain cash, credit and goods.
