Dell is world’s number one PC seller

DELL’S worldwide first quarter profits jumped 31% on strong sales as the largest personal computer maker in the world said it earned $598 million compared with $457 million a year earlier.

Price cuts helped Dell boost sales as competitors failed to match its growth.

Sales figures last month showed Dell managed to overtake arch rival Hewlett-Packard to become the world’s number one personal computer seller.
