Baby scandal at Liverpool Children’s Hospital

The remains of 1,000 unidentified babies which were discovered during the Alder Hey organ retention scandal are to be buried in a mass grave, it was announced yesterday.

The corpses and foetal tissue have been stored at the Liverpool Children’s Hospital and the Institute of Child Health at the University of Liverpool for more than 20 years. Health chiefs say the bodies are mainly those of stillborn babies, who died before 1980.
