THE Princess Royal yesterday became the first member of the royal family to have a criminal record when she admitted a charge under the Dangerous Dogs Act after one of her pets bit two children in Windsor Great Park.

The Princess was fined £500 and ordered to pay £250 in compensation and £148 in costs after pleading guilty to the offence when she appeared at East Berkshire Magistrates Court in Slough.

District Judge Penelope Hewitt also ordered that her dog Dotty should be kept on a lead in public places and should undergo training.
