Let the couch jumping begin: Katie’s pregnant

TOM CRUISE and Katie Holmes are expecting a baby, it was reported yesterday.

Holmes’s pregnancy was reported by People magazine in the US. The couple have been dating since April and became engaged in June.

“Tom and Kate are very excited, and the entire family is very excited,” Lee Anne Devette, Cruise’s spokesperson, told People.

It would be Holmes’s first child. Ms Devette said that Holmes “has never felt better.”

Cruise, 43, and Holmes, 26, began dating in mid-April, and he proposed to her in June at the Eiffel Tower in Paris, announcing their engagement the next day at a news conference.

A month earlier, Cruise had drawn snickers and raised eyebrows with a manic, couch-hopping appearance on The Oprah Winfrey show professing his love for the actress.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Cruise said the couple have not set a date for their wedding.

“We don’t have a date yet,” Cruise revealed, “[But we have] big, big plans. We talk about it. I really didn’t know that there were so many wedding magazines... The thing that I love about Kate is that she’s an artist, so she actually loves ribbons and she makes cards and creates art. She loves flowers, and she’ll do her own floral arrangements. So it’s going to be a lot of fun. It’s going to be a celebration.”

The twice-married Cruise, currently shooting the action movie Mission: Impossible III, adopted two children, Connor, 10, and Isabella, 12, with former wife Nicole Kidman.
