EU czar to lead war on terror

THE EU announced an anti-terrorism chief and stricter security controls yesterday, but cracks remain in its fight to protect Europe from further subversive attacks.

Yesterday, ministers admitted the Taskforce on Terrorism, set up after the September 11 bombings in the US, has never met.

It also emerged efforts to get the "big five" to share information so far has failed, with few countries willing to trust Europol.
