Lennon’s last autograph on sale for €270,000

JOHN Lennon’s last-ever autograph is on sale for £180,000: the former Beatle signed it 15 minutes before he was shot dead.

Owner Rabiah Seminole is selling it on memorabilia website, www.momentsintime.com, to fund her horse sanctuary.

Lennon drew a cartoon self-portrait and signed his name on a piece of notepaper as he left New York’s Record Plant studio on December 8, 1980.

Fifteen minutes later he was shot dead outside his apartment by a crazed fan, Mark Chapman.

Seminole said: “I didn’t want to capitalise on John’s death but he was a nature lover and I think he would have wanted me to sell it for the horses.”

Lennon’s last autograph was previously believed to be the one he signed for Chapman six hours before his murder.

A spokesman for the memorabilia website said: “This incredible find is without question the last thing that Lennon ever wrote and signed and as such is a remarkable discovery.”
