Dominic Patrick, who plays cricket, football, rugby and runs regularly, had been playing games for about four hours while sitting with his legs tucked up underneath him.

The teenager, from Bebington, Merseyside, needed 10 months of treatment with a blood thinning agent to nurse the potentially fatal condition.
