THE European Union increased its pressure on Iran to co-operate with the UN nuclear inspections programme yesterday by effectively giving them a deadline.

Twin-track talks between Iran and the EU on economic and political relations have been stalled since June when Europe made it plain they would not conclude a trade deal without agreement on a range of political issues also.

The foreign ministers meeting in Brussels yesterday said they would review the future of EU co-operation with Iran in September in light of the International Atomic Energy Agency's second report due out then.
