Smurfit to retire as chairman at AGM

DR Michael Smurfit is to resign as chairman of Smurfit Stone on May 8, the day of the group’s annual general meeting.

He has been elected to serve as chairman emeritus on retirement from the post.

Last night a spokeswoman said there was “no financial deal” being done on the basis of his going.
