BRITISH agents bugged the office of former president Mary Robinson when she was the UN chief human rights official, it was claimed yesterday.

Former MI6 agent Richard Tomlinson said: “In 1999 the combative Irish woman was strongly criticising Nato members for their attacks on Serbia”.

Robinson said she was not surprised by the disclosure.

“I was always aware that the possibility existed that I could be spied on and I conducted myself accordingly,” she said.
